About Our Center

Alice's Rainbow is a non-profit, licensed childcare center serving the Iowa City Community since 1972. We are housed in two, formerly private homes located in a wooded area near UIHC and the Boyd Law Building. We are open year-round, closing for University of Iowa office holidays, spring break, one week during winter break and one teacher work day in late August.

Our preschool uses Creative Curriculum and also incorporates both Project Approach and Reggio ideas. We focus on child-led learning through play, encouraging and facilitating children's social emotional development as a base for academics. Our preschool teacher has her Master's in Early Childhood Development and our teaching staff has a combined 80 years of experience working with children. We have 5 yards for outside play, old house charm, and offer flexible part-time spots.

Our hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
